I lost some weight this past summer - but not the healthy way - I was sick - so sick with such digestive issues that I completely changed my diet - I went from eating alot of junk and processed foods to hardly no carbs - hardly no sugar and no processed foods at all - and I have to say it was not easy at all - but I was so sick - it was easy to stick with because it made me feel better.
Now that I have my digestive issues under control - not that I am completely 100% back to normal - but feeling much better with the help of an anti-anxiety pill, yoga, mediation and acupuncture - I have started each some bad things again - which I am not happy about.
My main problem is that I have a sweet tooth - I love cakes and cookies, etc. As many of us do. Also another issue is the winter - you cannot get as many fresh fruits and I cannot grill my food outside - which makes it more difficult for me to eat healthy.
So this goes out to all the healhty eaters out there in the blog world - what are so good tips on maintain a healthy diet??
I am still not drinking anything but herbal tea and water - I have not touch a soda in almost a year. My main issue is lunch - before I was eating alot of salad but my acupunctist told me that raw fruits and veggies are not good for my system right now so I have been eating alot of tuna and chicken - but that gets old too - any ideas for spicing up lunch. Sometime I can bring with me - make the night before???
I did go from 145 pounds down to 128 pounds and I have been able to maintain it pretty well - I do not work out much - which is another issue - I only do yoga twice a week - I have to get back on my treadmill. I would like to tone up now and just be healthier.

I wish I had some healthy tips for you! I have become a horrible eater over the past 3 years, but hopefully soon I will get back on track. I would think that you could make some healthy soups and freeze them for lunches. I find caned soup isn't as tastey or healthy. Keep it up!
I wish I had some ideas to spice up your lunches - I'm kind of in a rut with that too. I eat a lot of chicken but I try to make it different each week. Right now I have a bunch of baked strips that I covered in garlic bread crumbs. Add a green vegetable and that's my lunch. :) Do you like quinoa? I haven't prepared it myself but it's high in protien and pretty good! I'd love to hear what ideas you get!
I've been doing the Atkins diet which as you know is low (almost no) carb in the beginning. Anyway, one of my favorite lunches so far is a bunless turkey burger. I just use the Foreman grill and make burgers with some salt-free seasoning and a slice of cheese melted on top. A tiny bit of ketchup and mustard and a pickle spear and that's lunch! I know it's not too fancy, but it is a nice change from the same grilled chicken all the time for me. :)
I make myself pita pockets. A pita with hummus, feta (yes you can eat it while TTC if it is pasteurized), and stick them in the pocket. Then I add a little bit of lettuce, and a dash of vinagrette. It's delicious.
Sometimes I do organic peanut butter and jelly too. We have a toaster at work which helps.
Oh I'm the last person to give dieting advice. I hope you continue to feel better though!
Can you take leftovers for lunch? At least then you could re-heat and have some warm food. :)
We have started using almond and coconut flours in place of other flours and I love it. Try elanaspantry.com for some ideas. :)
It's great that you have worked out your stomach issues. I remember how misreable it was for you.
I have a sweet tooth too! And it's been hard with the gestational diabetes. But I found Bryers ice cream crunch bars are only 5 grams of carb so I eat those in the evening.
Good luck to you!
I can not help you!! I always struggle to eat healthy. I end up just taking raw veg with me to snack on which does not help I am afraid!
I do like to use my George forman a lot to grill a lot of things
I am so pleased pleased that you are doing better.

I am not much help, but I have been trying to find healthier lunches. Hummus and pita is a good one. I also make smoothies with yogurt and frozen fruit and honey. I know the fruit may not be best for you but maybe every once in a while for your sweet tooth. Maybe you can make that before work and bring it with you as a morning snack or something. We also eat a lot of wraps, I make cut up or shredded chicken with avocado and other things. Try putting different stuff with the chicken and tuna on wraps to spice it up and add different flavors.
So funny, I just read your blog today and just saw this article. Maybe it will give you some ideas. http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/recipe-collections-favorites/popular-ingredients/tuna-sandwich-4-ways-10000001602564/index.html
