Women truly are super heros in my book - I have no clue how women have mulitple pregnancy - there is no way I could be this sick and take care of children - there is just no way. I do not know how people do it. I was so sick this weekend. I had to leave work early on Friday and I did not come into work yesterday - I just could not get out of bed - I was so weak and tried. I called my OB to ask for some medicine but he said no - he told me to drink cold Gatorade and water ice??
In other news he did say he will want me to see a MFM in addition to seeing him. He was asking me if I would consent to receiving blood if I bleed out and talking about inducing me at 39 weeks. This is all a little too much for me - I am only 7 weeks pregnancy and he is already talking about the labor - but I guess he just wants to have a plan in place. I will see him for the first time in July and then get a referral to meet with the MFM. Lots of doctors. We also picked a hospital which is a good thing - we are going with the one that is closest to our house - that makes the most sense.

Really? He refused to give you meds? That's nuts!! Zofran is what saved me the first trimester plus of my pregnancy! There are a bunch of different things you can try - grazing on crackers and sipping ginger ale, you could try taking additional B-6 (some ladies swear by it), some ladies are helped by eating sour candies, you can try putting lemon under your nose. . .
Do you have a primary care doc? Sometimes you can call them and they will give you some meds for nausea/vomiting. It would be worth a try in my book. You can't just not go to work! I just don't understand doctors sometimes. Could you ask your RE instead of your OB, or vice versa? Good luck hun - hang in there - it does get better. . .but it takes a while!
First of all, I am truly so excited and happy for you!
Second, I saw a MFM throughout my pregnancy along with my regular OB because I have type II diabetes. It may sound crazy, but I was very happy to do so because it meant extra ultrasounds and I got to listen to baby's heartbeat every week. I gladly accepted the high risk label because I think I would have gone crazy having to wait like normal pregnant women do for an ultrasound until I was 20 weeks and then not getting any more.
I'm very glad they are going to refer you to a MFM, the peace of mind it gave me was immeasurable!
I hope you start to feel better soon and that the Gatorade helps.
Ginger ale and sucking on mint candies helped a ton for me. Maybe for you, too? I hope you get some relief, MS can be horrible. Good luck :)
Just wanted to post and say hi. I am so sorry you are feeling sick, but was happy to see your u/s photo. I think the MFM will bring relief in the long run after all you've been through, even if it feels like extra work for now. Take care!
Eating many, small snacks helped me because I would feel sicker if I had an empty stomach. Ginger ale and sprite, crackers, motion sickness wrist bands, and sucking on hard candy all helped too. Hopefully it won't last much longer, but it is totally worth it in the end!
You need to ask him what his reason for not giving you the zofran. I took it, most doctors give it out like candy. Chick-fila lemonade rocks for morning sickness, something about the sweet and sour. Gingerale is good too, I found that ginger chicken from Chinese restaurants was good at keeping the nausea away. Preggy drops found at the maternity clothing stores or baby box stores were good too. Something about swallowing a lot keeps the nausea down. Good Luck!!
Ugh...I so feel your misery! I get terribly sick with all of my pregnancies. I can't find anything that helps except Zofran. Even with that, I am so, so sick, but at least don't throw EVERYTHING up. I was telling my husband that it doesn't seem right that God makes having a baby feel like punishment! LOL! The good news is it's temporary and so worth it when you're holding that little baby. I hope you feel better soon!
Thankfully when I was pregnant I never had morning sickness. Praise the Lord because feeling nauseaus is the worst!!! I would rather brake a leg then have the stomach flu. I feel for you.
