We are not rich people - we had to save for everything we have ever wanted including IVF, our house, our wedding, etc. We have one savings account for our treatments - which we do not touch and we should have enough money in there for our FET.
We have a seperate savings account just for saving for house projects, trips etc. We just went to Punta Cana not too long ago and with the rest of our tax return we were going to build a deck. But my brother really wants me to come out this summer and visit him - he just moved to CA - but when I look up the tickets they are crazy expensive.
So I now have a decision to make - either we use the money to build the deck or we use the money to go visit my brother in his new home on base in CA.
My husband said he would leave the decision up to me but I do not know what to do.

I would wait and see if the ticket prices go down. Maybe they're more expensive now because it's summertime?
I am suppose to go visit him this summer. So I really need to get the tickets soon if I decide to go
That's a tough one. It's a shame because you pay way more to go the West coast in the summertime. Have you tried using Kayak with flexible dates? Sometimes ordering the tickets later actually saves you money too. What do you think you would regret most not doing?
If you visted your brother that would be some more great bonding time for you and your husband...another mini vacation.
My brother lives in San Diego and we are planning on visiting him soon as well. I have not looked into tickets yet....I quess I now know they won't be cheap.
See if you brother will cover half the cost of the ticket.
The deck would add value to your house in the long run. Time with family is priceless though.
I'm not super close to my brothers, so I would choose the deck. LOL.
How long has it been since you have seen your brother? How long will it be before you see him again if you do not go this summer? These two questions would make a big difference for me.
deck will be permanent ,but this trip will give a temp break.

My sister is flying in from Cali and then back home the end of June and just got her tickets. I will check with her if she knows of any good deals. A deck would be nice, but it would be nice to see your brother too. It's a tough decision.
Check for tix prices on Wed & try to fly South.West or Air.Trans also USAIR.3000 with out the dot they have cheap tickets. I would go see your brother.
